My Software
I am also in the freelance cameraman/editor business. Here is a list of the software I use.
Adobe CS6 Master Collection
This is the primary software I use at this point. All the Adobe products like After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Audition, and Media Encoder are in this collection. The best part is it is a 64-bit software, meaning that it takes more RAM than Final Cut Studio 3 does, which is only 32-bit.
DaVinci Resolve
I love Blackmagic, I love their cameras and I love their software because they have a free version that is pro quality. DaVinci Resolve is a collor correction software that doubles as a video editor and media manager. This is what I am currently using for video editing because it has streamlined the editing process for me and now my editing is more efficient.
Pixelmator
When Photoshop isn't going to work in some cases, I use the next best thing that Apple has to offer, Pixelmator. It's Photoshop just for $20, with all the same usability, effects, and editing abilities that Photoshop has to offer.
